Finding Futures is a specialist college in Bath and North East Somerset, providing work-based programmes and support for young people with SEND and Autism.
Established in August 2024, Finding Futures was borne out of a passion to provide and develop quality educational provision for young people in need of support to enter the world of paid employment.
When leaving college or school, young adults with SEND and Autism don’t always have the experience or references needed to secure job opportunities. Additionally, in order to gain and maintain a job there are often other needs and challenges, such as being able to:
- Understand and complete application forms
- Convey own skills and abilities at interview
- Have an awareness of, and confidence in, own strengths and abilities
- Identify and develop areas for improvement
- Communicate effectively in the workplace
- Work confidently and positively with different colleagues and teams
- Understand rights/roles/responsibilities in the workplace
- Effectively manage anxieties, stresses and pressures in the workplace
... and many more. As a result, the idea of work can be quite daunting, and prospect of securing a job can be unfortunately be quite poor.
Finding Futures is all about changing that. We believe that in order to develop across the aforementioned areas and achieve their potential, young people just need to be provided with the right opportunities, guidance and support.
Finding Futures supports young people of widely varying needs and abilities to develop in areas such as these, empowering them with the experience, confidence, resilience and skills needed to achieve meaningful, lasting employment.
